Dr. Gangatharan N,HOD obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering in 1988 and Master’s Degree in Microwave and Optical Engineering in 1990, both from Madurai Kamaraj University. He earned Master’s degree in Computer Science and Engineering from Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Tirunelveli, in 1997, followed by an MBA Degree in Finance and Marketing from Madurai Kamaraj University in 1999. He received his Doctoral Degree in Engineering from Multimedia University, Malaysia, in 2007

Gangatharan N obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering in 1988 and Master’s Degree in Microwave and Optical Engineering in 1990, both from Madurai Kamaraj University. He earned Master’s degree in Computer Science and Engineering from Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Tirunelveli, in 1997, followed by an MBA Degree in Finance and Marketing from Madurai Kamaraj University in 1999. He received his Doctoral Degree in Engineering from Multimedia University, Malaysia, in 2007.


He began his academic career at the Indian Engineering College in 1988, where he held various academic and administrative roles, including serving as Principal from 1997 to 2001. From 2001 to 2005, he was a faculty member in the Faculty of Engineering at Multimedia University, Malaysia. He later joined the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at Universiti Teknologi MARA, Malaysia, where he served from 2005 to 2006.


From January 2007 to January 2009, he served as an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Engineering, Kigali Institute of Science and Technology, Rwanda. He then worked as an ICT Consultant/Expert at the Rwanda Utilities Regulatory Agency (RURA) from February 2009 to September 2010.

Since September 2010, Gangatharan N has been serving as Professor and Head of the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at RMK College of Engineering and Technology. Over the course of his distinguished career, he has published around 60 research papers in reputed journals and conference proceedings. He has successfully completed a MODROB project funded by AICTE, securing a grant of 20 lakhs. While in Rwanda, he led and completed three World Bank-funded projects.


Gangatharan’s professional contributions have earned him numerous accolades, including the “Distinguished Professional Service Award” from RURA, Rwanda (2010), the “Man Engineer Award” from IET CLN (2014), the “Best Administrator Award” from Dr. Kalam Educational Trust for Tribal, Chennai (2018), and the “Best Faculty Award” from Cognizant Technology Solutions (2018).

He is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers (India), a Member of ISTE and IEEE, and an approved Ph.D. supervisor for Anna University and other private universities. Under his guidance, four research scholars have successfully completed their doctoral degrees and three research scholars are currently pursuing their doctoral degrees.
